Life story

Life story

Little is known of Alexander's early life but he first appears on the 1861 census at 20 London Street, Paddington, London where he is working as a Horology Watchmaker. He has an apprentice working with him.

In 1871 he has moved to 201 High Street St. Pancras London, where he is still a Watchmaker, and has one assistant working with him.

He married Isabella Sommers in 1874 in St. Pancras; there is no record of them having children.

When Alexander retired, the couple moved to 41 Bath Street, Portobello, Midlothian, Scotland.

Isabella must have died around this time as Alexander moved to Worthing in Sussex, and lived at Thorn terrace West Worthing

He died 30th January 1890 and left £100 (£8200 in 2020), administration to the solicitor of the treasury Effects (meaning he died intestate)
