Life story

Alice Maude Wallis was born in Bexhill, Sussex, in 1858, she was the daughter of Frederic Wallis, 43yrs, GP and Surgeon, and Mary, 37yrs, nee Underwood. She was known as Maude and had 8 siblings; Frederic b.1847, Arthur b.1851, Hugh b.1852, Blanche b.1854, Ella b.1856 (died 1861) Lionel b.1857, Guy b.1860, and Ella b.1862.

In 1878, on 14th May, Maude, 20yrs, married Reverend James Puttick, 26yrs, in Battle, Sussex. They had no children.  In 1889, James was appointed parish priest at Kingston by Sea, Steyning, Sussex, also known as Kingston Buci, where he remained for the next 21yrs, living at the Rectory, until his retirement in 1910. James and Maud moved to Worthing, living at Cissbury Lodge, Broadwater, then to a property named Gable End, 6, Mill Road, where Maude died, on 11th February 1921, aged 62yrs. Probate was granted to her husband, James Puttick, Clerk, effects, £11159 1s 11d. Value 2021 - £560K.
