Life story

Amy Rose Lucy Goble was born to parents Charles Goble and Clara Mercer. Amy was the Eighth of 10 children born after her parents married in Broadwater in 1851 Amelia Louisa 1852, Clara Agnes 1855, Frances Mary Ann 1857, John William Inkerman 1860, Sarah Ann 1862 and died aged 4 in 1866, Twins Florence Elizabeth and Charles Ernest 1864, Amy Rose Lucy 1867, Minnie Eliza Ellen 1870 and Edith Alice Redman 1872. Her father worked as a Bricklayer. In December 1852 Father Charles was accused of stealing lead which was affixed to a building but was found not guilty and was acquitted. The family were living in Worthing and Amy was training to become a Pupil Teacher at the age of 13 in 1881. Her father Charles died in 1889 and her mother is left to run a boarding house in Crescent Road Worthing where Amy's sister Frances with her Husband and 6 children have come to live. Amy Rose Lucy marries Bootmaker Ernest Edwin Woolgar in March 1891 in Broadwater aged 23 and moves to Willesden in London. They had two daughters and two sons. Children: Dorothy Edith 1893, Amy Marjorie Cissy 1895, Ernest Richard 1896 and Charles Eugene 1901. In 1901 his first two daughters Dorothy and Amy were living in Worthing with Ernest's mother Louisa Woolgar who became a widow in 1901. Son Ernest aged 3 remained in Willesden with Amy and Ernest sharing a house with another family. They have another Son Charlie later that year in Islington London then move back to Worthing. By 1911 the family are all living together at The Bridge House, 122 becket Road and husband Ernest is now working as a Master Bootmaker and running his own business. Both daughters are working as bookkeepers for local businesses in the town and his first son Ernest is now working as an Errand Boy. The family move to 76 The Drive in Worthing and Sadly their first daughter Dorothy becomes ill with Inflammation of the Kidneys and dies in December 1916 aged 23 and was buried in Heene Cemetery. Amy's husband dies in 1926 in Worthing and was also buried in Heene Cemetery. In 1939 Amy is living with her Daughter Amy Marjorie and her family at 6A The Broadway in Worthing. Amy's daughters husband makes confectionary and daughter Amy is a manageress of a confectionary shop. Five years later in 1944 Amy's home address was 8 Grove Road Worthing and she dies in Worthing Hospital on 2 July. She is laid to rest at Heene cemetery with her Husband Ernest. Amy leaves her estate to her youngest Son Charles Eugene Woolgar who is a solicitor's clerk.
