Life story

Life story

Annie was born in Buckingham, the daughter of James and Anne. Her father was an auctioneer and estate agent. In early 1861, Anne died and James employed a governess to look after the children. By 1871, his sister Cecilia had moved in to help with the family. On 24th July 1879, Annie married Dr William L'Heureux Blenkarne in Buckingham. He was a widower whose wife had died of pneumonia soon after their honeymoon. William had a practice in the town and was much admired by the local people. Their son Edgar was born in 1880, followed by Harold, Eva, Ada and Rupert. By 1891, the family had moved to Leicester. In 1898, they moved to Worthing where William set up his practice in Grafton Road. When he retired in 1910, the family moved to Windsor Road. William died after a long illness on 10th April 1921. Annie continued to live at Ladbroke Lodge in Windsor Road until her death on 13th May 1931. Probate was granted on 17th August to Edgar James Blenkarne accountant, Harold Morgan Blenkarne stockbroker and Rupert Harrison Blenkarne accountant. Effects 325605 1s 1d.
