Life story

Life story

Caroline was born in St Pancras, Middlesex, the daughter of Henry and Caroline Matilda. She was baptised at the Old Church, St Pancras on 1st August 1843. Her father was an architect and surveyor. Caroline never married and lived with her parents until their deaths. She moved to Worthing in 1906, living in Belsize Road with her niece Constance. In 1913, Caroline was a witness at Constance's wedding in St Pancras. She died on 10th March 1929. Probate was granted to Constance Mary Thomas wife of Charles Thomas and Rev. Horace Claude Harland clerk. Effects £26117 10s 11d.

Henry Baker was a well-known architect and surveyor. He designed several London estates as well as St Pancras almshouses; London and Westminster Bank, High Holborn; and various buildings in Drury Lane. He died in 1878 and is buried in Highgate cemetery.
