Life story

Life story

Emma was born in Stamford, Lincolnshire, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah. She was baptised at Stamford on 17th February 1850. Her father was a railway plate layer. By 1851, the family had moved to Easton on the Hill in Northamptonshire. Emma married William Fisher, a school master on 11th January 1877 in Easton. Emma had been a servant in William's house in Islington. The couple moved to Birkenhead and then to Handsworth in Staffordshire where William took up a post as science master at Aston Grammar School. They had no children. After William's retirement in 1913, they moved to Worthing living at "Landour" 14 Winchester Road. William died on 26th August 1924. Emma died the following year on 27th July. Probate was granted on 29th September to Kate Pulham, wife of James Robert Pulham and Robert William Charles solicitor. Effects £3967 5s 3d.
