Life story

Life story

Born in Worthing, son of Edwin and Ellen Mary. Died aged 6 months and buried at Heene on 3 Jan 1900. No Church of England Service. Edwin was the brother of George Edward Greenfield. He was born in Brockhurst, Alverstoke, Hampshire in 1858 and married Ellen Mary Elliott at Heene on 1 May 1881. The brothers were brickmakers and worked at the Tarring Brickfields at the west end of Tarring Road, north of the railway line. In 1891 Edwin lived at Brickyard Cottages, Tarring End Lane. After the death of baby Ernest, the third of their children to die, the family moved away from Worthing to Edmonton in Middlesex.
