Life story

Florence was only 22 years old when she died of meningococcal meningitis and hydrocephalus (water on the brain) on 19 January 1919 in St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. Her address on the death certificate is 3, Harley Place, Marylebone, but she was born in Brighton in 1901.

Her father was Edward Ernest Manwaring and her mother was Ada Marion nee Fricker.

In her probate announcement Florence is described as of the Three Arts Club which was founded in 1863 as a haven for those connected professionally or as amateurs with the Arts. It relocated to 40, Dover Street, from its original home in Hanover Square in 1896 and its members included Charles Dickens, Franz Liszt, Walter Sickert and Auguste Rodin.

A spinster, she left 988 19s 3d to her parents.
