Life story

Francis married Henrietta Maria Schramm in Kings Norton, Birmingham, in 1890. Henrietta was the fourth of Emile and Jane Schramm's five children. Her father, Emile, was a Dealer in Wholesale toys. The family, all but the youngest born in Bavaria, were living in Edgbaston Street, Birmingham, in 1871 and 1881.

Francis and Henrietta were living in Edgbaston in 1891. Francis was described as living on his own means, with Henrietta and her mother Jane, and a Domestic Servant.

By 1901 they had moved to Wood Green, with daughters Winifred and Marie, plus a Domestic Servant. In 1911 they were in Stoke Newington, and Francis J was the Managing Director of a Press Cutting Agency. Henrietta Amelia, was described as 21 yrs married, 5 children, 4 living. Son John Emil was 19, and a 'traveller in Press Cutting Agency. The remaining children, all born in Birmingham were Winifred Matilda 17, Marie Henrietta, 13, and Philip Francis, 9, at school. They had two Domestic Servants.

John Emil trained at the Central Flying School in Upavon, and died at sea in 1917. His Commonwealth War Grave is in Baghdad. John's brother, Roland was born, and died, in 1892. He is remembered in our Cemetery, but I haven't been able to find any more details.

Francis and Henrietta were on the 1927 Electors' list for Seven Sisters Road. In 1929 although described as of Finsbury Park, Middlesex, Henrietta died at 8 Grand Avenue.

Winifred married Stanley Lawrence Read in 1922, but he died in 1926 in Holloway. He was the son of George Read, a Tailor, and born in 1895 in Marylebone. Stanley was described as an Artist.

In 1939 at 65 Mill Road the household was Winifred M Read, born 1893, unpaid domestic servant, Jacqueline M Read, born 1926, at school, (one record closed), Mary K Morgan born 1904, unpaid Domestic, and Francis P Morgan, born 1927, at school.
