Bernard Higgins and his wife Mary. The couple had been missionaries in Northern Rhodesia and returned to England in 1931. They moved into 54 Pembroke Avenue when Bernard was appointed Curate in charge of St John's Mission in Ripley Road. Mary gave birth on 26th Mar 1932 but John died 2 weeks later on 10th April. She died at Swandean Hospital from Scarlet Fever and complications following the birth.
