Life story

Laura Katherine Olley was born in St. Giles, Norfolk, in 1868, she was the daughter of George Robert Olley, 26yrs, Leather Merchant and Bootmaker, and Leonora Maria, 34yrs, nee Rix, Dressmaker.  She appears to have been their only child.

Laura lived with her parents in Norfolk until she was working as a milliner and dressmaker in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, aged 23yrs. She returned to Norfolk after the death of her father in 1891 and lived with her widowed mother until her death in 1902.

In 1916, aged 48yrs, Laura married Felix Albert Pillet, 53yrs, an Insurance Clerk, at St. John, Deptford. They lived at 3, Tressillian Road, Deptford, together with Felix's unmarried sister, Emmeline, until sometime in the 1920s when all three moved to Worthing, Sussex.

Laura and Felix lived at 31, St. Matthew's Road, and on 27th April 1931, Laura died at the Caer Gwent Nursing Home, Wykeham Road, aged 63yrs.

Probate was granted to Felix A. Pillet, retired insurance official, effects £296 2s 6d. Value 2023 - £25,700.
