In memory of Lilian Mary Moore Lane beloved daughter of Colonel and Mrs Moore Lane died 14th January 1926 aged 56 years "At rest" Life storyLife storyLilian was born in Pendennis Castle, Cornwall, the daughter of Maitland Moore Lane and his wife Georgiana. She was baptised at Budock, Cornwall on 9th January 1870. Her father was a lieutenant in the army. In 1873, he was promoted to captain and the family moved to Suffolk. By 1881, they had moved to Paddington and in 1883, Maitland retired from the army with the honorary rank of Lt. Colonel. The family moved to Cirencester where Maitland worked as an auctioneer and estate agent. On 18th May 1892, Lilian was presented to Princess Christian at Court ( Buckingham Palace) by her mother. The family moved to Reigate where Georgiana died on 3rd September 1908. Maitland and Lilian moved to Seaford and then to Worthing, living at "St Olave's" in Boundary Road. Maitland died on 22nd May 1915. Lilian moved to 88 Heene Road. She died at Groombridge Nursing Home in Chaucer Road on 14th January 1926. Probate was granted on 19th February to Alec Densham MD (Dr).
