Obituary

Croydon Guardian and Surrey County Gazette 11th March 1911

"Grantham Habitation"

(an organisation for spreading Conservative principles throughout Britain)

Since their last meeting, a very sad event had happened in the death of Mrs Peard who for twelve years had been President of that Habitation. To many of them the name of Mrs Peard was only a name but to those who had served on the committee in the past, it was more than a name. Mrs Peard had worked well for that Habitation and all those ladies who had worked with her, would remember with gratitude her tact and kindness in everything. Mrs Bouquet proposed that a vote of condolence be sent to the family of the deceased lady and Mrs Crowley seconded. She remarked that Mrs Peard was a true friend and had proved herself the kindest of all women, faithful and steadfast in everything she undertook. They were indebted to Mrs Peard for keeping the Habitation together in very quiet times when there was no political excitement to stimulate the members as there was now. They all very deeply regretted her death, the memory of Mrs Peard being cherished and honoured by everyone who knew her. The motion was carried in silence, the audience remaining standing.
