Life story

Martha Thompson was born in March, 1836, in Fifield, Enford, Wiltshire, she was baptised at Ansty, Wiltshire, on 24th July 1836, her mother was Sarah Thompson, spinster.

Martha married George Thompson, a bootmaker, (unknown date or place) they lived in Marylebone, London, and they had 4 sons, George, 1859, Frank, 1861, (died 1868), Lionel, 1862, and Harry, 7yrs.  The family had moved to Tunbridge Wells, Kent, by 1871, remaining there until George died c1885, Martha was 50yrs when she was widowed.

Martha then lived in various places, Walton-on-Thames in 1901, Islington in 1911, and in 1921 was a patient in a Worthing nursing home, aged 84yrs, where she died the following year, on Easter Sunday, 16th April 1922.
