Life story

Mary, known as Bessie was born in Moulton, the daughter of John and Emma. She was baptised at Little Harrowden, Northants on 26 Apr 1874. Her father John was a carpenter and painter. The family lived in Wellingborough for most of Mary's life. Her father died in1899 and Mary stayed to look after her mother who became increasingly frail. Mary moved to Worthing with her sister Caroline a retired head teacher in 1928, living at 30 St Botolph's Road. Mary died on 17 Jan 1931. Probate was granted on 17 Apr to Caroline Emma Abbott spinster. Effects £2839 13s 1d (approx. £130K in 2020).
