Mary Parker nee Woolven 1843 - 1908
Dairywoman, Mary Parker, managed the dairy in Rowlands Road, Worthing with her husband Laban. One of their three sons, Thomas, took over the dairy on their retirement in 1904.
Biography
Mary Woolven was born in Tarring, Worthing, Sussex, in 1843 to William Woolven, a labourer and his wife Elizabeth. She was the oldest of a family of five children. Elizabeth was born in 1845, Thomas in 1847, George in 1848 and Henry in 1851.
Mary married Laban Parker, an agricultural worker, on 9th October 1866 in Broadwater.
In 1871, Mary and Laban, lived in 8 Heene Lane, Worthing, with their sons, William and Alan. Thomas G Parker was born in 1874 and by 1891, Mary was a dairy worker and Laban a dairyman living at 23 New Street, Worthing.
Laban died on 15 March, 1907 at 85 Rowlands Road, Worthing. Laban was buried in Heene Cemetery on 19th March 1907. Mary died a year later at 85 Rowlands Road, Worthing on 21st February 1908. She was also buried at Heene on 25 February, 1908.
Probate was granted to William Parker, her son, of £135 1s 8d.
