Life story

Life story

William Henry Holland was born in Burford, Oxfordshire, he was baptised on 3rd July 1848 and was the son of Henry Holland, 41yrs, Gunmaker, and Sarah,39yrs. He had 2 siblings, Matilda b.1838, and Thomas b.1853.

On 12th December 1879, aged 31yrs, William married Emma Ashfold, 23yrs, at St. Andrew's, Kensington. In 1881 William was a grocer, living in Brompton, Kensington, and in 1880 their son, William, was born.

At some point, William changed career from grocer to stationer and in 1901 they were living in Earl's Court, William was assisted in his stationery business by his wife and her sisters. After retirement, William and Emma moved to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at 27, Harrow Road. William died on 2nd February 1933, aged 84yrs, at the Groombridge Nursing Home, Chaucer Road.

Probate was granted to Sydney John Lewis Boon, gentleman, and Arthur Leslie Ferriman, solicitor, effects, £2173 14s 7d. Value 2022 - £172,850.
