Catherine's Father Edwin was a Worsted Spinner at 44 Hopwood Lane Halifax Yorkshire. Worsted spinning produces a smoother yarn because the fibres lay flatter. Catherine was attending school.
In 1891 the family have moved to 22 Saville Park in Skircoat Yorkshire. Catherine's Father has retired from Worsted spinning. Catherine is still attending school
In 1901 Catherine's Father has died, and Catherine is living with her mother at 22 Saville Park in Skircoat Yorkshire.
Catherine's Sister Ellen married Edward Rowe Dickenson in February 1898 in Halifax Yorkshire; Catherine was one of the bridesmaids. Ellen and Edward moved to Worthing before the outbreak of WW2 and it might be for that reason that persuaded Catherine to move to Worthing as well.
By 1961 Catherine was living at no. 1 St. Michaels Road Worthing. She never married and died on 23rd September 1961 at Seaward nursing home 10 St Michaels Road, Worthing. Her probate records show her effects of £754 (approx £15,000 today) were left to Cecil George Dickenson, her nephew.
Her ashes are under the headstone of Lieut. Col. Robert Stephen Porter VD DL, although there doesn't appear to be any link between them
