Pishiobury Park
Pishiobury Park

Hannah Rolfe was born on the 15 April, 1810 in West Drayton, Middlesex, the daughter of Harriet Haynes and her husband Robert Rolfe. St. Martin's Church, West Drayton was the place of her Baptism on 13th May 1810.

Hannah became a Lady's Maid to Mary Raw Ede before 1851. Mary Ede was the daughter of Francis and Fanny Ede. Francis was a successful merchant in the Ottoman Empire and was the proud owner of Pishiobury Park.

In 1851 she served Mary Ede and her sister Fanny who were visiting in St. Hanover Square and in 1861 she was Mary's servant at Lion Hill, Bristol. By 1871 she was Mary's servant in Weston Somerset and in 1881 she was Mary's lady's maid in Hastings, Sussex.

She died on 17 May 1886 at Edenhurst, Worthing at the age of 76. She was once again living in the employ or Mary Rawe Ede. She was buried in Heene Cemetery, Worthing, Sussex on 25th May 1886 and her gravestone acknowledges that she was a 'true and faithful servant'.
