Life story

Arthur Greaves was born in Hackney on 8th June 1838, his parents were, Richard Greaves, 33yrs, and Frances, 28yrs, nee Davies. He had 6 brothers, Richard b.1830, Charles b.1832, George b.1833, Frederick b.1836 (died 1847), Edmund b.1841, and Alexander b.1848, and a sister, Frances b.1835.

Arthur was employed as a bank clerk. On 23rd April 1874, Arthur married Charlotte Edwards, 31yrs, at Hackney, she died in 1884.

On 8th September 1887, Arthur married Arabella Manley, 40yrs, at All Saints, Carshalton, Surrey. They lived in Beddington, Surrey, until Arthur retired, and then moved to Worthing, Sussex, where, in 1901, they lived at Sunnycroft, Rowlands Road.

Arthur died on 7th February 1904, aged 64yrs, probate was granted to Arabella Greaves, effects £1054 8s 7d. Value 2021 - £134K.
