Life story

Laura Ann Andrews was born c1866 in Middlesbrough, Durham; she was the daughter of Robert Foster Andrews, 33yrs, commercial traveller, and Hannah, 31yrs, nee Pearson. She had 4 sisters, Margaret b.1861, Emily b.1863, Eliza b.1868, and Gertrude b.1873.

At the age of 16yrs, Laura went into domestic service, working in Kirkleatham, Yorkshire. On 5th August 1889 Laura married Mark Pike, at St. Stephen's, Paddington.

He was a butler, working in Kensington, London, and in 1891 Laura was a ladies' maid, also in Kensington.

Laura and Mark had 2 sons, Louis Rupert, b.1891, and Harold Andrews, b.1895, their family home was in Hammersmith while Mark's occupation as butler required him to reside with his employer.

Laura died on 10th January 1924, aged 57yrs, she was buried at Heene Cemetery on 12th January.
