Walter Henry Higman was born on 11th March 1875 in Multan, Bengal, India. He was the son of Frederick Andrew Higman, 35yrs, and Emma Elizabeth, 26yrs, nee Rose. Walter had 4 siblings, all born in India, Oswald b.1869, Amy b.1871 (died 1872), Bertram b.1877, and Ethel b.1881. Walter was at boarding school in Belper, Derbyshire, in 1891, returning to India after finishing his education where he married Mildred Lucy Baron, (born India 1871) on 13th April 1898 at Rajasthan.
At the time of his marriage, Walter was an Assistant Traffic Superintendent with the Baroda and Central India Railway.
Walter and Emma had 4 children in India, Walter Frederick b.1902, Lucy Elizabeth b.1905, Marjorie Ethel b.1907, and Evelyn Frances b.1910.
On 13th November 1926, Walter died at 14, Cowper Road, Worthing, Sussex, aged 51yrs. Probate was granted to Bertram Frederick Higman, railway manager, and Ethel Brenda Thomas, widow, effects £4743 15s 9d. Value 2022 - £309K.
