Her Danish name was Frederikke Luise Grundtwig. She was born in Rio de Janeiro, the daughter of Frederick Halgrim Theodor Grundtwig and his wife Isabella Elizabeth. Frederick was born in 1818 in Copenhagen and died in 1877 in Lisbon. Isabella nee Witcomb was born in Gosport, Hampshire and died in 1905 in Wimbledon. Her sister Teresa Witcomb is buried at Heene. By 1877 the family were in England, living at 41 Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill. After Frederick died, Isabella moved to Streatham. By 1891, Frederica was living at Teville House in Downview Road, Worthing with a lady companion. Frederica died after an epileptic seizure on 28th February 1894.
