Life story

Life story

Louisa was born in St James, Westminster, the daughter of Thomas and Mary. Her family lived in Jermyn Street where Thomas ran his business as a pork butcher. Thomas was the founder of Thomas Wall and Sons, the famous sausage and ice cream company. His sons Thomas and Frederick joined the board in the 1870's. Louisa was close to her brother Thomas and periodically lived with him during her life. By 1887, Mary Wall was a widow and living in Sutton, Surrey. On 21st April 1897 at St Nicholas Church, Brighton, Louisa married Captain Charles Harrington Harris who had retired from the army. The marriage was also registered in Worthing the following year. Charles died at 105 Marine Parade, Worthing on 2nd February 1900 and was buried at Heene. Louisa moved to "Blythewood" in Sutton, Surrey to live with her brother Thomas. By 1911, she was living in Bournemouth in poor health, employing a companion and a hospital nurse. Louisa moved back to live with Thomas by 1921. He died in 1930 and she continued to live at "Blythewood" until her death on 14th April 1936. Probate was granted on 13th May to Mortimer Rooke solicitor and Alexander Herbert MacDonald retired solicitor. Effects £41996 9s 1d.
