She married Robert Chignell in July 1863 in St. Pancras. Robert was the principal of a private school and later an author. She had three children, Marion, Ethel and Mildred. Marion lived in Dover and East Grinstead with Robert and her three daughters. She moved to Worthing between 1901 and her death in 1908.
