Life story

Life story

Eleanor Edmonds was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, in 1838; her parents were, William Edmonds, 23yrs, Farmer, and Anne, 26yrs, nee Plaistowe. Mary was one of at least 8 children; her mother died in 1859 and her father remarried, she then had 4 half-siblings. Eleanor had a sister, Mary Elizabeth, one year older, and they were very close, Eleanor never married and lived with Mary for most of her life. Mary married in 1863 and lived in St. Pancras for 25yrs, Eleanor was a governess and resided with Mary and her husband for most of that time. In July 1890, Mary was widowed, and in 1891 Eleanor was living at South Mimms, Middlesex, with Mary and her sons, and in 1901 she and Mary were in Worthing, at 10, Milton Street, where Eleanor died, aged 65yrs, on 9th February 1903.
