Life story

Life story

Edward was born in Northampton, the son of Francis Benjamin Woods and his wife Maria. He was baptised at All Saints church Northampton on 14 September 1843. His father was an apothecary and surgeon. Edward trained as an articled clerk eventually becoming a solicitor. The family moved to Worthing after Francis retired, living at Heene Villa in Heene Lane (Road). In 1871, Edward married Elizabeth Bullivant in Oundle, Northants. The couple moved to Walton in Cheshire where Edward set up his practice. They had six children, Agnes Mary, Ernest Edward, George, Charles Herbert, Elizabeth Beatrice and Katherine (Kitty). By 1901, the family had moved to Worthing, living at "Heylin" St Botolph's Road. Edward died on 12th January 1908. Probate was granted on 27th February to Agnes Mary Woods spinster and George Woods maltster. Effects £16270 17s 6d.
